James Davenport

James Davenport defended his PhD in Computer Algebra at Cambridge in 1979. He then worked in Yorktown Heights, Cambridge, Grenoble and Zurich before settling at Bath in 1983, where he has been Professor of Information Technology, Head of Mathematical Sciences, Director of Studies in Computer Science and University Director of Information Technology. He had been interested in interoperability of computer algebra systems for many years, and has been involved in the OpenMath Project since the start, as Content Dictionary Editor. He in on the Committee on Electronic Information and Communication of the International Mathematical Union, and a Vice-President of the British Computer Society.
